The home winning streak of BETARD SPARTA continues. The Wrocław team defeated KS APATOR Toruń 48:42. Throughout the match, there was a fight for the bonus point, which the team from Toruń managed to take away (52:38). In an interview for ekstraliga.pl, the home team’s coach talked about the junior formation and plans for upcoming matches in PGE Ekstraliga.

Magdalena Świergała (ekstraliga.pl): You’re returning to the home track after a longer break. Did the opponent set strong conditions on the track?

Dariusz Śledź (BETARD SPARTA Wrocław coach): A tough match is behind us. We would have liked a better result, but it was not an easy match. We are happy with the victory after a fierce fight.

Coach, didn’t Maciej Janowski’s willingness to help and riding in pairs with Marcel Kowolik cause the bonus point to be lost?

Maciej is Maciej and will do everything for his team. He will fight for every point, even those that are not his. We cannot blame him for that. I would like everyone to know how to ride in pairs like Maciej Janowski.

The high number of points scored by juniors and a double victory in the youth race – does that inspire optimism?

Our group of young kids is talented and, above all, well-coordinated. They communicated well with each other, and we get a lot of joy from them, not only on the track. A nice group that also performs well in the U24 Ekstraliga.

The debut of Mikkel Andersen in the match against Toruń can be considered successful?

He showed himself in a good light. However, our boys showed that if the rule about a foreign youngster comes into effect, he will have to fight hard for his place.

The high temperature in Wrocław caused it to be quite dry on the track. In each race, it was very dusty – was that the plan for the track surface?

We wanted a slightly faster track, but it was very hot. The sun, which was over the Olympic Stadium all day, caused the track to “burn” unfortunately.

The good performance of the team inspires optimism before the next matches. And the next match at the Olympic Stadium is against the Polish champion – ORLEN OIL MOTOR Lublin.

We still have a match in Leszno and a fight for the full pool. We also have a trip to Gorzów. We still have some riding to do, and the match with ORLEN OIL MOTOR will definitely be tough, as they are in very good form.

Which position before the play-off phase will be the best for BETARD SPARTA Wrocław?

The first is reserved for the Lublin team. Of course, we are aiming for second place. For now, we will ride the remaining matches and see what we achieve.
