Jan Kvech is a new rider for KS APATORA Toruń. In an interview with ekstraliga.pl, the Czech talked about his preparations for the PGE Ekstraliga and his trip to Australia.
- As part of preparing for the PGE Ekstraliga, Jan Kvech participated in two tournaments in Australia.
- Additionally, he had the opportunity to skate…on ice skates at 35 degrees Celsius.
- I want to compete with the best, because I know I can do it – he said about performing in the SGP cycle.
The Czech rider uses proven preparation methods. However, he decided to change the climate and move to another continent in the meantime. – I have my coach, with whom I’ve been preparing and collaborating for 5 years. We do what works and suits me. Sometimes we try something new, but overall we follow our training, which I need and will be prepared to get on the bike and ride. I also had the opportunity to fly to Australia for a few tournaments. I have my training planned out. Actions are ongoing, and I can’t wait for the season – he said in an interview with ekstraliga.pl.
During his Australian adventure, Jan Kvech participated in the International Speedway Master in Gillman and Phil Crump Solo Classic in Mildura. The speedway rider from KS APATORA Toruń finished 3rd and 7th respectively.
– It was my first time in Australia, I liked it very much. It was great to be able to ride a motorcycle and compete with others. It wasn’t easy because I got back after a 2-month break, but there wasn’t a major problem. I am well prepared – the speedway rider noted.
It was also a time when he took a break and tested his skills…on ice skates, which are more commonly associated with winter weather. – I also took a light vacation because the weather was nice there. I tried different sports – I skated in 35 degrees Celsius, but I really liked it (laughs) – he added.
In the 2025 PGE Ekstraliga, Kvech will represent the club from Toruń, famous for gingerbread baking, and the rider is not overly intimidated by the scene. – I had the opportunity to even try making it myself. We had a meeting with fans in the market in Toruń, and we happened to be making gingerbread there. It was a nice opportunity. I am a bit nervous being on stage. I prefer more relaxed meetings with people, but I am used to it. It’s also part of my job – he said.
The Czech has his second season in the FIM SGP cycle ahead of him. In his debut performance, he finished in 15th place, and he was given a spot for the 2025 season by the organizers through a permanent wild card. – My dream from the beginning of my career was to get into the Grand Prix, and I achieved that. Now that I’m there, I would like to fight for titles or medals, but I know it’s not easy. I need to learn from the first season in the cycle. I want to compete with the best, because I know I can do it. I need to maintain stable form, and I believe I can achieve a good result – concluded Jan Kvech.
