A significant reshuffle occurred during the winter break in the team, which finished last year’s METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga playoffs in the semi-final, losing to ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz. Just before the holidays, the news unexpectedly broke to fans about the end of cooperation with coach Mariusz Staszewski. The first team coach became the former youth coach – Kamil Brzozowski. Kacper Gomólski, who was racing at the National Speedway League level last season, will now oversee the youngest trainees. So, why the decision by an active rider to take on a new role?
– During a conversation with Kamil Brzozowski, it was revealed that I would be looking for work with the youth. He suggested there was an opportunity in Ostrów. We discussed this over the last two months. Recently, we sped up the process enough that on Thursday, I had a meeting with the president. It lasted a maximum of 15 minutes, we came to an agreement, and here I am – shared the newly minted coach in an interview for ekstraliga.pl.

The decision to collaborate with the Ostrów club was not made quickly. The former ULTRAPUR STARTU Gniezno rider, whose colors he represented last, shared his thoughts on a career as an active competitor. – I still have a Warsaw contract signed because I did not anticipate landing in Ostrów as a youth coach. If I had known, I might have signed a contract with the Ostrów club, but I wasn’t aware it would come to this. My enthusiasm for speedway has been declining over recent years, and if there is no joy in riding, stepping back is simply necessary. I will certainly want to compete in some events this year to keep my license – explained Kacper Gomólski.
Entering MOONFIN MALESA Ostrów Wlkp., Gomólski inherited a significant “legacy” of a thriving speedway school, initially founded by Mariusz Staszewski, to which Kamil Brzozowski later contributed. Such a great responsibility does not weigh on the athlete, who takes on the mission entrusted by the Ostrów Wielkopolski leaders with full enthusiasm. – Truthfully, I have just met all the kids he worked with, and there are many of them. Mariusz and Kamil certainly did a good job together. I don’t feel the pressure of the predecessors, so we’re approaching this calmly and naturally. I’ll be appearing in Ostrów several times a week. I need to get up to speed, and then we’ll see how things look. The youth season starts later than the league season, so we have time. We’ll arrange everything calmly so that everyone is satisfied – he concluded.
