We talked with the coach of AUTONA UNIA Tarnów during a press conference held before the official presentation of the team for the 2025 season. Stanisław Burza spoke on several issues concerning his team.

On the U24 position and strengthening the junior position:

As of today, we are still looking for a U24 player, and we are also considering strengthening the junior position. Everything is ahead of us. At the moment, talks are a bit difficult. We are talking with players, but no one can commit to signing with us. Therefore, I think we will struggle with this for a while. Clubs have promised to loan us players or we will acquire them for this season, but only after the first sparring and training sessions. Each team will then decide who to keep. We will find out in spring. At the current moment, there is no topic of a foreign player for the U24 position. We have three foreign seniors, so it must be a player with a national license. This is a big problem for us right now, but I hope we will deal with it.

On the course of contract negotiations for the 2025 season:

It took a long time, and the players didn’t want to delay either. It cannot be hidden that a lot of things come down to money, and this was also the case here. Sponsorship decisions about financing our club took quite a long time, and this affected whom we could acquire. Currently, it may be an uncomfortable situation for us that we are missing these two players, but we are doing everything to complete this team and move full steam into the season.

About the players of AUTONA UNIA Tarnów:

Mateusz Szczepaniak is a player who has helped secure promotion in more than one club. He handles the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga level very well, and I assume that he will be that team leader who can drive results and advise the guys. Matej Zagar, as we know, had a break, but he is returning to racing and is very motivated. He is ambitious about the topic. He also decided to compete in the English league to be more “in tune.” This should also impact his preparation for the season. Timo Lahti has already competed at this level. For him, it may not be a challenge, but I assume he will handle it well. A mystery is Marko Levishyn, but he is a very ambitious and young player. He has a lot to prove and feels confident on the Tarnów track. Basically, each of them has something to prove. I hope they approach the task very ambitiously and demonstrate on the track that it was worth negotiating with them and deciding to sign them.

On preparations for the season:

We are waiting to see what everyone will show on the track. I will definitely want to create the conditions for them to prepare well. I know that work will be conducted on the Tarnów track, and we might get on it quite late. However, I have already talked in Kraków and Slovak Žarnovica. We have the possibility to train there earlier, so we don’t have to wait until the end of March. We can even head there in the second week of March to start training. Everything is in front of us, and we are waiting to see what the conditions will be and when we’ll actually get out there.
