Tim Sorensen about his role at ENERGA WYBRZEŻE Gdańsk: I’m here to win

Tim Sorensen is another player who has decided to join Lech Kędziora’s team. The Dane represented ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz last year, with whom he reached the final. As he assures, the move to Gdańsk is not accidental.

Sorensen has already ridden in the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga for ARGED MALESA Ostrów Wlkp. and ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz. ENERGA WYBRZEŻE will be another stop in his career. Besides the new club, the 2025 season will be the first for the Dane in which he does not start as a U24 senior. – As a U24 player, you have a guaranteed spot on the team, but you must always deliver your points. The year at ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz was a step forward for me. I believe I made significant progress and need to stick to my chosen path. Every player, regardless of their position, feels the same pressure, but we are one team. We must all do our work to the best of our ability and improve our results together. The team is most important to me, I must harmonize with it and feel good within it. This is very important to me – he said for the club media of the speedway rider.

When asked about associations with the Gdańsk facility, Sorensen replies: – We walked the track with my dad and I told him I remember watching Wybrzeże a few years ago with Michelsen, Bech, and Thomsen on the team. I remembered this stadium and thought that someday I would like to ride here. The Marathon Gate always impressed me, making this facility unique. Gdańsk is a beautiful city. I didn’t know the club from the inside before, but we had coffee, we had dinner, and I decided this is where I want to sign a contract. This year, I performed well here with Polonia, although conditions were tough and the match was interrupted due to rain. It is a technical track, and I like those – he states.

What are Tim Sorensen’s greatest speedway strengths? – On the track, I am a technical but aggressive rider. The opponent never knows when I’ll pop up behind them, I always fight to the end. I never give up and never close the throttle, even when I’m last. I hate losing. A mechanic can make wrong adjustments, and I’ll stay calm, but when I know it’s me who messed up, I can explode. I give my whole heart to the team and expect the same from my teammates. If I see someone isn’t giving their all, I won’t pretend I don’t see it. Winning is more important than me racing five heats at all costs. If the coach replaces me in the next series and I know he has an indisputable reason, I won’t argue. Of course, I believe I won’t give him reasons to do so and such situations won’t occur – read on wybrzezegdansk.pl.

The player also shared information about the equipment he intends to use next season. – I’ve been racing for years on Flemming Graversen engines and don’t plan to change that. As a curiosity, I can reveal that I have a spare engine from Charlie Gjedde in my workshop. It hasn’t been used for a long time but is unique. This unit is 22 years old. My workshop has been located in Świętochłowice for the last two seasons, due to the mechanics’ place of residence, it was just easier for us. Now I am moving everything to Denmark and I don’t yet know how I will organize it, but the logistics will be geared towards the Polish and Danish leagues. They are my priorities – continues Sorensen.

The individual Danish junior champion from 2021 also left a message for Gdańsk fans. – I’m here to win, but that will only happen with your support. I like how coach Leszek and Mariusz build the team. In my opinion, we will be fighters. I always say, “You’re strong, but together we’re stronger, so let’s do it together.” If you ever see me somewhere in the city, come up, say hello and let’s take a photo. I am always open to fans. See you! – concluded the new acquisition of ENERGA WYBRZEŻE.
