BETARD SPARTA Wrocław gave no chances to EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów and defeated their rivals 50:40, securing their place in the grand final of the PGE Ekstraliga. The leader of the defeated team was Martin Vaculik, who was deeply unhappy with the final result.

The guests could only be happy with the first phase of the match. The good performance of, among others, Oskar Paluch and Martin Vaculik kept the Gorzów team in contact. After the 6th race, the scoreboard showed 18:18, and BETARD SPARTA Wrocław began to worry about the result. However, 3 out of the next 4 races ended in a double victory for the home team, dashing the guests’ hopes.

– It was an incredibly tough match, especially in the middle of the game. The Wrocław team is well-tuned to the track here and knew exactly how to adjust their equipment as the match progressed. I am sad and sorry, I am angry – said Martin Vaculik after the match in an interview with ekstraliga.pl.

The visitors were in a very difficult position as they came to Wrocław already two points behind. – The defeat in Gorzów was painful for us; with a points lead, it would have been easier and lighter – said Vaculik.

– We can only thank the fans for their support and apologize that we didn’t make it. As in sports, someone had to lose. We are now focusing on the fight for the bronze medal – added the Slovakian speedway rider, who won a round of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Wrocław a month earlier.

Vaculik usually felt good at the Olympic Stadium. In the last matches, he was the leader of EBUT.PL STAL there, and his victory in the FIM SGP only confirmed the good form of last year’s World Championship bronze medalist. The leader of the Gorzów team admitted that despite concerns about the track surface condition, the track posed no problems. – The track was very similar to what we are used to in Wrocław. It was completely safe and very good. However, the home team knew better how the surface would change during the match. They are strong at home – he emphasized.

Next Sunday, the Gorzów team will host KS APATOR Toruń on their track in the first match for the bronze medal. The team led by Stanisław Chomski defeated this team in the quarterfinals, but the rivals were then weakened by the absence of Emil Sajfutdinow. – I don’t look at it at all, in what role we will approach the match. It doesn’t matter if we are the favorite, we want to win the bronze medal – emphasized Vaculik.
