Leon Madsen turned out to be the best during the 2nd round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship cycle on the track in Grudziądz. The Dane, in a conversation with ekstraliga.pl, did not hide his satisfaction with the victory, although he admitted that the competition did not go entirely according to his plans.

At the beginning we had minor problems, it was difficult for us to find the right gearings, but the hard work of my team and I paid off. We got back in the game and I managed to win, which I’m very pleased with – admitted Madsen.

Mid-season, the Dane lowered his form somewhat due to personal matters. Recently, however, he shows that he is returning to good shape. He was the undisputed leader of KRONO-PLAST WŁÓKNIARZ in the clash with ORLEN OIL MOTOR on the track in Lublin, and he also finished the round in Grudziądz excellently. – In recent weeks my form has been improving and I’m having much better performances than before. Riding a motorcycle gives me joy again and I hope it stays that way – declared the former European champion.

The leader of the Częstochowa club admitted that in the Saturday’s tournament, the start and the first turn were decisive, which was not his strong point. There is a lot of truth in this, as Madsen read the almost invisible paths at Hallera 4 perfectly. – I think I’m one of the few riders, thanks to whom these competitions were interesting. In my opinion, overtaking was very difficult, but a few races really went well for me. But that’s the way this sport is. On some tracks, there is a lot of fighting, and on others, the start is crucial. In Grudziądz, a lot depended on the start moment, and unfortunately, I had a problem with that. Fortunately, I was able to choose the right paths on the distance and managed to perform some spectacular actions – explained the Dane.

KRONO-PLAST WŁÓKNIARZ currently ranks 6th in the PGE Ekstraliga table and will have to fight for a place in the playoff phase until the end of the season. This is partly due to the uneven performance of the Częstochowa team members. Madsen is the only and main driving force in Janusz Ślączka’s squad. – To win in the PGE Ekstraliga, the whole team needs to ride well. Two or three riders in good form are not enough. This year, the teams are very balanced, and everyone is capable of winning matches, so the entire team must perform at a high level in every match, but unfortunately, we are currently failing at that. Each of us must stand in front of the mirror and ask ourselves if this is all we are capable of? – he said.

A good performance during the European Championship round is certainly a positive predictor ahead of the very important Częstochowa match in Grudziądz, which will take place in less than a month. – I hope that when we come to Grudziądz in a month, everyone will perform as they should and we will manage to secure a spot in the playoff phase – concluded Leon Madsen.
