Krzysztof Sichma (president of Śląsk Świętochłowice): A light at the end of the tunnel is visible

The speedway races are returning to ‘Skałka’ in Świętochłowice. After the Flat track competition, it is time for speedway and the 1st round of the MACEC Cup. The president of Śląsk Świętochłowice, Krzysztof Sichma, does not hide his joy over the increasing number of events.

– It is a great joy for me, but above all for the city and the whole Upper Silesia-Dąbrowa Basin Metropolis. You could say we are creating speedway in the heart of Silesia. Therefore, we invite everyone to our stadium – said Krzysztof Sichma in an interview for ekstraliga.pl.

On this day, the MACEC Cup competitions took place. It is a clear signal that really cool competitions can take place in Świętochłowice. – It’s a treat for fans. Even more so because Marcel Kowolik, who has roots in Świętochłowice, is competing. His results this year are certainly pleasing – emphasized the president of Śląsk Świętochłowice.

With the increasing number of tournaments in Świętochłowice, the question arises of when league racing will return. President Sichma assures that it will be soon. – It’s a long road. However, I think we are already at its finish line. New stands, which are supposed to be ready next year, are set in the plans by May. It will be 3,500 seats and the renovation of the main stand. Therefore, next season we see each other in a larger group. And league racing is planned for 2026 – assured our interlocutor.

The financial backing is very important for the team’s start, yet Krzysztof Sichma is calm about it. – If we were afraid, we wouldn’t be doing this. If we don’t gather enough funds, of course, we won’t start, but currently there is no such threat – he admitted.

One of the key elements seems to be the cooperation between the club and the city. However, Śląsk fans shouldn’t worry about that either. – Cooperation with the city is one of the most important elements for improving the stadium’s infrastructure. The city is the owner of the facility, and thanks to the support of Mr. President and the City Council, the project has a chance to be realized. So, you could say that both sides are pulling it in a good direction – noted the president of the association.

Krzysztof Bas, who is involved in youth training, has joined in helping Śląsk Świętochłowice. – He is a jack-of-all-trades who greatly supports the entire association’s activities. Without this, it all would not succeed. I thank him very much, as well as our sponsors, fans, and the parents of the children from the school who help rebuild this club. It is all being built from scratch, so without their support, we wouldn’t be able to rebuild it – concluded Krzysztof Sichma.
