FOGO UNIA Leszno bid farewell to the PGE Ekstraliga with an impressive victory. Grzegorz Zengota scored 10 points and 2 bonuses. After a weaker start in the match, he was very fast in the subsequent races. However, after the match, there was more sorrow than joy.

Leszno residents parted ways with the PGE Ekstraliga after a difficult and injury-marked season. For nearly three decades, they have continuously fought for the Polish championship, but next year they will have to strive for promotion and a quick return to the elite. Grzegorz Zengota confirmed his earlier statements and wants to stay with the team.

– I stand by my words, and if nothing gets in the way, I hope we can quickly come to an agreement, and then we will return to the PGE Ekstraliga. Hopefully, it will be a short break – he said after the match in an interview with the club media of FOGO UNIA Leszno. The situation was quickly confirmed, and the day after the match, the club announced that Zengota would stay for another 2 seasons.

Relegation from the best speedway league in the world was decided even before the start of the match against EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów. When the hosts defeated KS APATOR Toruń in Zielona Góra, the chances of staying in the league became purely illusory.

– We were following the results aware of how much depended on them. After the match in Zielona Góra, we knew there were no chances left. After the parade and greeting the fans, we just wanted to leave with our heads held high. Let’s remember that the team from Gorzów is a top league team – noted Zengota.

– I don’t remember a time when I was relegated from the league. It hurts terribly and is not a nice feeling. The fans have shown incredible class this tough season, and we are all proud of them. They were always with us, and that energy is something that reaches us on the track – praised his fans, the favorite of the Leszno public.
