EBUT.PL STAL victorious at home. KS APATOR advanced at the last moment

EBUT.PL STAL Gorzow defeated KS APATOR Torun in the quarterfinal return match 51:39. Both teams will go to the PGE Ekstraliga semifinals. Piotr Baron’s team managed to secure advancement in the final race of the match, thanks to their higher position in the standings after the regular season.

The beginning of the match promised fierce competition. From the 1st race you could see elbow-to-elbow combat. The inaugural race was won by Patryk Dudek. In the junior battle, Oskar Paluch defeated Krzysztof Lewandowski, giving the hosts the lead. Race 3 brought another 4:2 victory for Stanisław Chomski’s team, and PGE Ekstraliga debutant Adam Bednar scored his first point.

The guests from Torun started the second series well, but the locals quickly responded. Race 7 turned out to be a show by Robert Lambert, who after a weak start caught up with Jakub Miśkowiak, but was unable to overtake Szymon Woźniak. At halftime the scoreboard showed a score of 23:19.

In the third series, EBUT.PL Stal Gorzow extended their lead. Thomsen and Paluch decisively defeated Przedpełski. The visitors could not find a way to make up the losses. After the break, there was a dramatic fall of Wiktor Lampart, which resulted in Szymon Woźniak being excluded. In the rerun, Oskar Paluch unexpectedly led for most of the race, but experienced Patryk Dudek capitalized on his mistake and scooped up three points. Before the nominated races, the Gorzow team won 5:1, giving them a result of 45:33.

The fate of KS APATOR Torun’s advance to the semifinals was decided in the final moments. Before the last race, Piotr Baron’s team had to win 4:2, which they managed thanks to the victories of Lambert and Dudek. Together they scored as many as 32 out of their team’s 39 points, determining the final success of the Torun team.
