FOGO UNIA Leszno, in the match against ZOOLESZCZ GKM Grudziądz, won, but only by two points, which greatly complicated the issue of fighting for survival in the PGE Ekstraliga. Benjamin Cook admitted that it was the toughest match he has played in Poland so far.

The Australian made a fantastic debut in the best speedway league in the world, recording, among others, remarkable performances in the matches against KS APATOR Toruń and away against NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ Zielona Góra. This time, Cook had to settle for 7 points and two bonuses. His team defeated their rivals 47:43, but they are still up against a wall in the fight for survival, and not everything now depends on Leszno.

– Probably the toughest match for me in Poland. We won, so actually nothing went wrong, but it definitely wasn’t an easy match for us – said Cook after the match in an interview with ekstraliga.pl. – The match was also demanding due to the very high temperature. It made the surface a bit different than we expected – explained the Australian.

Leszno won, but the goal was the bonus point, which would have restored a favorable position in the fight for survival. After the triumph for 2 points, FOGO UNIA Leszno must rely on favorable results in the remaining matches. – In such conditions, we aimed for the best possible result. It was only enough for a victory – said Cook after the match.

The team of Rafał Okoniewski no longer has any margin for error. On Sunday (July 28) in Leszno, FOGO UNIA will face BETARD SPARTA Wrocław. Only a victory can prolong the hopes of Leszno for survival in the PGE Ekstraliga.
