In the return leg of the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga quarterfinals, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz hosted #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ Poznań. The 51:38 score was not enough to make up for the loss in the away match, resulting in Bydgoszcz advancing to the semifinal phase as a lucky loser. Andreas Lyager (8+2) spoke about the difficulties in this match.

Aleksandra Rzepa (ekstraliga.pl): What are your feelings after the match with #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ Poznań?

Andreas Lyager (ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz): It was really a very tough match. We fought, we did everything we could. There were a lot of falls and a lot of re-runs. We were unlucky, we lost Kai Huckenbeck at the end of the match. There were a lot of race re-runs for all of us. The opponents gained an advantage over us several times. It is what it is, it was supposed to be better, but we have the “lucky loser”. We have to keep working.

You had a good start to the match, but then it went downhill. What was the reason for that?

Well, it’s simple – there hasn’t been track leveling for about 2 series. The track was different than usual. When I went wide, there was no material by the band. The track changed, so I couldn’t race as usual. Nevertheless, we did everything we could.

There were a lot of falls in this match. What was the cause of that?

When the opponents come to our track – it’s tough for them. It’s a bit technical when you go too far. I think it could have been a shock for them. But that’s our advantage. This is the play-off phase. Now everyone gives much more.

Did you feel more pressure before the match due to that 15-point deficit?

Of course, we felt it. Honestly, we felt that we had work to do. We had a plan and we knew what we were racing for. We did everything we could. We were very close, but we just didn’t have the luck.

How did the preparations for this very important match look?

We had preparations on Friday. We checked the motorcycle settings and did everything we could to make up those 15 points. It was really a high defeat. That day was very tough for all of us. It’s unacceptable, but those were the facts. We bore the consequences.

Do you feel more pressure because you will now face ARGED MALESA Ostrów Wielkopolski?

No, we are in the play-off phase and everyone has to give their best. We need to train more. After all, you have to win against everyone.
