On April 4th, for the twelfth time, we will meet the best speedway rider of the PGE Ekstraliga. The IMME, named after Zenon Plech, will once again visit Łódź, which after Tarnów, Leszno, Gdańsk, and Toruń, is ready to welcome the top speedway riders of the world.

IMME named after Zenon Plech is an annual event that determines the best rider of the world’s top speedway league. The tournament, organized by the Speedway Ekstraliga, features fourteen of the best riders from the average race point ranking from the previous season, the best junior from youth races, and a wild card entry.

The event has already taken place in five cities in Poland, and since 2024, Łódź has been the host city. – I think this is very good. It’s a sort of gift for the fans in Łódź, as they also deserve to see world-class riders – says Janusz Ślączka, the coach of the local club ORŁA.

The tournament format has remained unchanged for many years. First, we have a twenty-race main tournament, followed by two semifinal races. In these, riders who were classified in positions 3-10 according to the number of points scored after the main tournament will compete. The winners of the semifinals advance to the final, where they will be awaited by riders from positions 1-2.

Last year, with a full audience at the Łódź Moto Arena, the competition was won by Bartosz Zmarzlik, followed by Fredrik Lindgren and Jason Doyle. Who will receive the golden wreath this season? – It will be just the start of the season, so it will be hard to determine who is the favorite for this tournament – said Ślączka.
