23.10.2024 14:20One of the most talented British riders joins Falubaz Zielona Góra. 15-year-old William Cairns will represent the team in the U24 Ekstraliga competitions in the 2025 season.
The 2024 season was the last in which William Cairns competed in the 250cc class. He finished this stage of his career with a bronze medal in the Individual World Championships, or SGP3, and fourth place in the Individual European Championships. Earlier, in the 2023 season, William won an individual tournament during the Speedway Ekstraliga Camp, which took place in Toruń.
– William is another young generation rider, after Mitchell McDiarmid, whom we highly count on. I am glad that this rider connects his future with us and wants to develop in the colors of Falubaz. I hope that our cooperation will not end in the 2025 season, but will last much longer – said Wojciech Domagała, president of ZKŻ SSA.
– I am happy to have joined such a team as Falubaz Zielona Góra. A very important year is ahead of me, and I am confident that many great moments await me. I can’t wait for the first starts in the U24 Ekstraliga competitions – said William Cairns.
– I had the opportunity to observe William this season during his several visits to Zielona Góra. He made a huge impression on me. He has excellent control over the motorcycle. It is clear that despite his young age, he feels at ease while riding. Besides, he approaches his career professionally, as evidenced by his cooperation with Greg Hancock – said Piotr Protasiewicz, sports director at the Zielona Góra club.
In the 2025 season, William will enter the adult speedway. In addition to racing in Poland, he already has planned rides in the British league with the Belle Vue Aces team. In the U24 Ekstraliga, the Briton will be able to start from June 29.
