The continuation of the semifinals. An early final in Bydgoszcz? (preview #BYDOST)

After yesterday’s inauguration of the METALKAS 2. Extraleague semifinal meetings, it’s time for another match. In Bydgoszcz, the local ABRAMCZYK POLONIA will face ARGED MALESA Ostrów Wlkp. Thus, we are in for a match between the teams from the top two positions of the table after the regular season.

Many fans envisioned the final playoff for advancement to the world’s best speedway league just like this. It’s no surprise since both ABRAMCZYK POLONIA and ARGED MALESA proved during the regular season that they are fighting for top objectives. The two teams were separated by just one point.

In the competition between these two teams, which already faced each other this year, Bydgoszcz was on top, winning the aggregate 90:89. First, at the Municipal Stadium named after Marshal Józef Piłsudski, they defeated their rivals weakened by the absence of Gleb Chugunov, and then gained 39 points in Ostrów Wlkp., securing them a bonus. However, now everything starts anew, and the day’s performance may determine who advances to the final.

On their home track, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA has always been excellent. They have won all the matches played on their home venue and never scored less than 51 points, twice surpassing the sixty-point barrier. Much of this success is due to Krzysztof Buczkowski, with an impressive home average of 2.722 points per heat. Additionally, none of Tomasz Bajerski’s senior team members have an average below 2.000 on their home track.

On the Ostrów side, there are also plenty of reasons for optimism. As many as three senior riders from ARGED MALESA Ostrów are in the top ten of the heat average rankings. These are Gleb Chugunov, Chris Holder, and Frederik Jakobsen. Not far behind, in twelfth place, is Tobiasz Musielak. What does such a team need to improve? – You can always work on everything. There’s never a match where all seven riders score well, so there’s always something to work on – head coach Mariusz Staszewski recently told us. In the previous quarterfinal match, his team confidently defeated the lower-ranked opponent H.SKRZYDLEWSKA ORZEŁ Łódź both at home and away. Now, however, it will be much tougher, but that doesn’t change the fact that ARGED MALESA remains the favorite in this clash, partly because they scored the most points at the Bydgoszcz track among all METALKAS 2. Extraleague clubs this season.
