The battle for the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga play-off phase continues (preview #KROLOD, #BYDRZE, and #RYBGDA)

We have the first two matches of the fourteenth round of the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga ahead of us. First, CELLFAST WILKI Krosno and H.SKRZYDLEWSKA ORZEŁ Łódź will face off against each other on the track, and then ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz and TEXOM STAL Rzeszów. The postponed match between INNPRO ROW Rybnik and ENERGA WYBRZEŻE Gdańsk will also take place.
The matchup between CELLFAST WILKI and H.SKRZYDLEWSKA ORZEŁ has a clear favorite. Krosno currently sits in fifth place on the table and is not threatened by the club in sixth place, which is exactly the speedway riders from Łódź. They are fighting for a higher position, so they need points in this match, as there won’t be another opportunity.
The team from Łódź, on the other hand, has almost secured a spot in the top six. Maciej Jąder’s team, after a stormy start to the season, has managed to gather enough points to fight in the quarter-finals. They have no chance to improve their position on the table, so the match with CELLFAST WILKI seems to be just a formality.

In the next match of the day, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA will host TEXOM STAL. Bydgoszcz has not lost a single match at home yet. Moreover, they win each time by a large margin. Therefore, they seem to be the clear favorite in this clash, especially since they are fighting for the top spot at the end of this season’s regular round.
The club from Rzeszów is in an interesting position, as they have mathematical chances both to advance to the play-off phase and to be relegated from the league. Most likely, however, TEXOM STAL will end their campaign after this match. – We know where we are heading and we want to bid farewell to this season with dignity. Undoubtedly, from the point of view of the goals we had before the season, which was to stay in the league, we have achieved that. However, after the regular season, there remains a sense of dissatisfaction because in many matches we could have performed significantly better, but based on the regular season’s progress, we didn’t deserve to make the play-offs – says coach Paweł Piskorz from Rzeszów.

Simultaneously with the match in Krosno, a postponed match will take place in Rybnik between INNPRO ROW and ENERGA WYBRZEŻE, which was originally scheduled for June. The team from Rybnik currently has 18 points, placing them in third place on the table. The second-placed ABRAMCZYK POLONIA has 24 points, so there’s no point in hoping to improve their position before the play-offs. They must, however, defend what they already have, as there is a threat from both CELLFAST WILKI and #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ.
The team from Gdańsk still has mathematical chances to defend their place in the league, but apart from the condition of winning each of the three remaining matches, they also have to count on the misfortune of other teams. Thus, it seems that ENERGA WYBRZEŻE wants to bid farewell to the season with dignity by performing well in Rybnik, with a rematch to follow tomorrow.

After a few seasons of hiatus, fans will again be able to choose the Riders of the match. Voting will begin after the 7th heat of every METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga match, i.e., after the second series of starts have ended. The appropriate tab will be available in the Speedway Ekstraliga mobile application. The choice of Rider will end after the 15th race.
After each round of METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga, voting for the Rider of the Round will start on CANAL+ Speedway’s Facebook. Fans will choose from among the winners of individual matches in a special post. CANAL+ will also announce who received the title for that round.
