SPEEDWAY/NEWS/M2E: Summary of Practice and Camp Plans of METALKAS 2nd League Clubs

Less than two months remain until the start of the 2025 speedway season. During the current preparation period, both the clubs of the PGE Ekstraliga and METALKAS 2nd League are using the winter weather to be in the best possible shape for the league opening and the preceding friendly matches.
- So far, only half of the teams in the METALKAS 2nd League have published their friendly match plans. These are FOGO UNIA, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA, CELLFAST WILKI, and TEXOM STAL.
- Several teams have already completed their training camps, and according to participants, all went in excellent spirits.

For the first time in almost thirty years, we will see FOGO UNIA Leszno on the second level of league competitions in Poland. Before starting the METALKAS 2nd League, besides numerous training sessions, the team will also go on a camp. – We are entering the final phase of preparations as February is the month with a few more intense training sessions followed by a slowdown, and then we go on a mountain camp with the team – announces coach of Leszno, Rafał Okoniewski. Meanwhile, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA has already completed their camp. Bydgoszcz team once again chose Żnin as the location for their several-day team integration. – We prepared some activities for the guys, so the time spent was in good spirits, and hopefully, it will be like this all year long. Following the 2024 season, ARGED MALESA Ostrów Wlkp. underwent numerous changes. The club decided to replace four players, and Kamil Brzozowski took over as the head coach. As the new coach of Ostrów inhabitants said, the team will not be left on its own and will also have a small training camp before the competition starts. – Regarding the camp, we were in the mountains with the youngest, and for the first team, there is a small camp planned at the end of February and the beginning of March, here in Ostrów – he said. The friendly match plan for ARGED MALESA Ostrów Wlkp. is not yet known.
In Poznań, on the other hand, the club focuses mainly on the youngest members of HUNTERS PSŹ. The youth speedway school is given a lot of attention by the club’s president, who says it is becoming more and more populated. – There are more and more attendees at the school. Training takes place five times a week at pools, gyms, flyparks – wherever they want. We want to attract the youth here, but to do that, some success is needed – said Jakub Kozaczyk. The friendly match schedule for HUNTERS PSŹ Poznań before the 2025 season is also not yet known.
CELLFAST WILKI Krosno has already taken the option of spending time together at a training camp. Piotr Świderski’s speedway riders prepared for the season in Arłamów, where they trained both physically and mentally. – We had a very good time. It was a great period in excellent conditions, and from what I spoke with the boys afterwards, each of them was satisfied with how it went – stated Michał Finfa about the camp. ORZEŁ Łódź is another team that will go on a joint camp, but unlike other clubs, ORZEŁ’s destination will be the seaside. There are many new players in the team, so one of the camp’s goals will be to test their physical form at this stage of preparations. – We want to go on a camp with the whole team at the end of February and do some training. We will definitely also conduct endurance tests to see who is in what condition – said Janusz Ślączka, the new coach of Łódź inhabitants, for ekstraliga.pl. More can be read HERE.
The friendly opponents of ORZEŁ Łódź are not yet known.
TEXOM STAL has also made many changes after the 2024 season. One of them was replacing Nicki Pedersen with Tai Woffinden, meaning three World Individual Championships remain in Rzeszów. As Paweł Piskorz told us, the club focuses on the experience of its players when it comes to winter preparations for the competition. – Our seniors are well aware of the importance of winter preparations, and laziness or deviations from training will come to light at the very beginning – said the coach of TEXOM STAL. Newcomer to METALKAS 2nd League – AUTONA UNIA Tarnów is also preparing heavily for the season, especially concerning youth, with whom Stanisław Burza works closely. The team’s coach assures that none of his speedway riders need to worry about late track outings. – I have already had conversations in Kraków and in the Slovak Žarnowica. We have the opportunity to train there earlier, so we don’t have to wait until the end of March. We can even go there in the second week of March and start training.
