FOGO UNIA Leszno after nearly three decades says goodbye to the highest division in Poland. The white and blues are already doing everything to end this breakup as quickly as possible. After Sunday’s match, Rafał Okoniewski admitted that the plan is to retain all the players.

The people of Leszno were counting on a favorable sequence of events before the last round, which would extend the hopes of staying. KS APATOR Toruń performed excellently for a long time in Zielona Góra, but the final defeat of the Toruń team deprived FOGO UNIA of the chance to stay. Even a three-point win was not enough to remain in the elite, and the people of Leszno had such a triumph over EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów within their grasp.

– It has already happened, and it is history. I think sometimes you need to take one step back to take two steps forward later. It’s been a long time since there was a season where a team was relegated with such a number of points. Even a bonus wouldn’t have been enough for us – said Rafał Okoniewski after the match.

Just a day after the relegation from PGE Ekstraliga, the white and blues officially announced the extension of the contract with Janusz Kołodziej and Grzegorz Zengota. Still hot after Sunday’s match, Rafał Okoniewski forecasted rapid and significant personnel moves.

– The president and the board are performing miracles to ensure the team can quickly advance again. We are doing everything to keep the team and recover a place in the PGE Ekstraliga as soon as possible – emphasized the manager, who, like the players, declares a desire for a quick return. – If I have the possibility, I will stay. I can certainly express such a desire. We were relegated together, and I would like to advance together – highlighted Okoniewski.
