Piotr Świderski becomes the new coach of CELLFAST WILKI. Why did he choose Krosno?

Piotr Świderski is a former speedway rider who has won, among others, two gold medals in the Polish Team Championships. After ending his career, he found himself in the role of a coach, where he worked, for example, at KRONO-PLAST WŁÓKNIARZ Częstochowa. After a year-long break, Świderski is returning to the position. This time, he will lead CELLFAST WILKI Krosno.

How did it happen that Piotr Świderski ended up in Krosno? – We have been in contact all the time because I am still involved in speedway. The topic came up somewhere, and I had to think about it a bit because the distance from my place of residence to Krosno is significant, but I agreed, and now I am working for CELLFAST WILKI – said the new coach from Krosno.

The team manager at CELLFAST WILKACH will be Michał Finfa, with whom Świderski had already had the opportunity to cooperate in Częstochowa. Did this influence his decision? – I know Michał, so it was definitely an additional argument for it – confirmed the coach.

After his speedway career ended, the 41-year-old has been actively involved in speedway, although in 2024 he was most visible as an expert on Canal+ television. Despite this, were there any job offers as a coach? – There were some proposals, but I decided to return to television and not be active for a while – he explained.

The job of a coach in speedway sports is certainly not the easiest, but some stand out the most. According to Piotr Świderski, they are Stanisław Chomski and Piotr Baron. Why? – They achieve good results and have good rapport with players. They have been in the industry for a long time and are continuously at the top, able to win medals. I could list a few more such coaches, but these two deserve appreciation, which I do.

The squad of CELLFAST WILKI Krosno for the 2025 season is quite different from this year’s. The team said goodbye to Vaclav Milik, Jonas Seifert-Salk, Patryk Wojdyło and Norbert Krakowiak. Newcomers include Jakub Jamróg, Tobiasz Musielak, Krzysztof Sadurski, and Mathias Pollestad. I was aware of how this lineup is forming. I fully accept it and identify with this team – says Świderski.

So what is the goal for CELLFAST WILKI Krosno for the next season? – We will work calmly, without unnecessary ‘inflating the balloon,’ and rather we run away from that. We look at METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga, we know how other teams have put together their lineups, and we will not announce anything grandly. We want to advance to the top four, although of course we would also like to advance to the PGE Ekstraliga, but for now, that is a very distant goal. Our primary aim is the playoffs – he concluded.
