#ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ will do it again? ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz comes to Poznań

#ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ Poznań, condemned by most before the season to be relegated, has just advanced to the play-off phase. Adam Skórnicki’s team will face ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz, the runner-up in the table after the regular season, in the quarter-finals.

The team from the capital of Greater Poland can certainly already consider the 2024 season a success. After the autumn transfer window, when the squads of all teams were known, #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ seemed to be the main candidate for relegation. However, that did not happen, and after fourteen rounds, the team took fifth place, not only staying in METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga but also advancing to the play-offs.

ABRAMCZYK POLONIA, on the other hand, is still the main favorite for promotion to PGE Ekstraliga. In the regular phase, the Bydgoszcz team took second place, only behind ARGED MALESIE Ostrów Wlkp., whom they managed to beat in a two-leg match. Moreover, the greatest asset of Tomasz Bajerski’s team is their own track, where they never scored below fifty points and twice exceeded the sixty-point mark.

The first part of the quarter-final clash will take place at the Poznań venue. There, both teams met at the beginning of June. The hosts were on top at that time, which was hailed as quite a sensation. In the rematch, however, as already noted, ABRAMCZYK POLONIA won 55:35. In one of the heats that day, Mateusz Dul had a dangerous accident and consequently sustained an injury, from which he is still recuperating. On the Bydgoszcz side, Olivier Buszkiewicz is unavailable due to injury.

The clash between Poznań and Bydgoszcz is also a duel of their leaders, competing in the individual race point average classification. For most of the season, Krzysztof Buczkowski was at the top, recently overtaken by Brady Kurtz. Ryan Douglas was also on the “podium” of the best riders for a long time but was outpaced by Gleb Chugunov. Who will come out on top after the Poznań clash?
