One Step Away from a Bonus Point for Gorzowians

Anders Thomsen’s complete set with bonuses, but no bonus point for EBUT.PL Stal Gorzów. That was match #GORWRO.

In the 13th round match, EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów defeated BETARD SPARTA Wrocław 55:35. The two big points were secured by the Polish vice-champions from two years ago still during the main part of the competition. The bonus, for a better balance in the two-match set, went to the guests (89:91).

Initially, it looked like a fierce rivalry. After two races, it was 6:6. Later, there were exchanges of blows between both teams. Heat 3 was won 5:1 by EBUT.PL STAL. Heat 4 saw the same result, but in favor of BETARD SPARTA. After the first series, we had another tie on the scoreboard (12:12).

Later, the hosts took control. With triumphs of 5:1 in the 5th race and 4:2 in the 6th, they gained a six-point lead (21:15). This was contributed by Jakub Miśkowiak, who performed like never before this season in the Sunday evening’s event. After his first two races, he had two “threes” on his score. Gorzowians went for another strike – the pair Szymon Woźniak-Oskar Fajfer with a victory of 4:2 in the 7th heat over Maciej Janowski and Jakub Krawczyk extended their lead (25:17).

In the further part of the meeting, the home team controlled the situation on the track at Kwiatowa Street 55. Wrocław residents tried to set the bar higher for their Lubusz opponents. This happened in the 9th race, when 5:1 was won by those replacing Francis Gusts as a tactical reserve, Artem Laguta and Daniel Bewley. However, the closer it got to the end of the battle, the more it was certain that it would end in a win for the team led by Stanisław Chomski.

The overall victory in the entire match was secured by EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów after the 13th race, when they were leading 46:32. In this race, the gathered fans at the Edward Jancarz Stadium were witnesses to a remarkable fight between Oskar Fajfer and Artem Laguta. Ultimately, the latter won the duel by literally a spoke’s flash.
