The second ORLEN OIL MOTOR Lublin quarter-final match against NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ Zielona Gora ended with a score of 58:32. For the Lublin players, the match turned out to be an ideal moment to test their capabilities before the final competition. In an interview for ekstraliga.pl, Mateusz Cierniak talked about the technical and sports challenges before the most important phase of the season.

The U24 player of the Lublin team surprised fans with a very good performance during the match against NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ Zielona Gora. The speedway rider does not hide how much work he had to put in to achieve the desired result. –The regular season was definitely tough. It could always have been better. I needed a lot of riding and finding consistency. I changed engines, which I also had to learn. In the Swedish and Danish leagues, it was satisfactory. I think that slowly what worked in foreign leagues is beginning to bear fruit in the PGE Ekstraliga. I’m definitely calmer before the key matches of this season – commented the 21-year-old.

The management of the Lublin team looks optimistically at the young player’s form regarding the upcoming semi-final at Motoarena. – I hope that Mateusz Cierniak will break, as we say, the “curse of the Torun track,” because he previously didn’t have good performances there. Lately, he’s in good shape – assessed Jacek Ziolkowski.

ORLEN OIL MOTOR Lublin had the best chances in the medal phase to face the team from Torun or Grudziadz. Until the last races of Sunday’s struggles, it was not known who would be the opponent of the Team Polish Champion. –We’re going to Torun. During the MPPK final in Poznan, I told Piotr Baron that we would meet in the final. Fate had it that we will meet in the semi-final – noted with a smile Ziolkowski. –A tough opponent, I suspect that during our semi-final match, they will be more dangerous thanks to the announced return to racing of Emil Sajfutdinow – summarized the manager of the Lublin team.

The team from Grudziadz hoped for a better result on their home oval but encountered a tough rival BETARD SPARTA Wroclaw. According to Ziolkowski, the Grudziadz club can be pleased with the entire season. – I thought that ZOOLESZCZ GKM Grudziadz could win this match. The team from Wroclaw set the bar high. For the Grudziadz team, the first advance to the play-off phase is a big success – he concluded.
