Martin Vaculik: I strive to achieve the best possible results and help the development of speedway in my country
03.09.2024 14:52Martin Vaculik is the first rider to have won two rounds of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix 2024 – the first in Prague, the second in Wroclaw. During the press conference after the 2024 DEWALT FIM SGP of Poland – Wroclaw at the Olympic stadium, he reflected on his performance, chances of winning a medal, as well as the development of speedway in his country.
– I feel fantastic, everything worked very well during these competitions. My team did a great job, they read the track conditions very well. All the changes they made to the motorcycle were spot on. Even if we had a weak heat once, they immediately knew what to do to improve and regain speed. It is very important these days in speedway to react quickly. I am very happy with the result and overjoyed, but I will remain calm and focused for the rest of the season. Despite the great joy, we want to continue working hard and being fast – said the Slovak.
Before the Wroclaw round, Martin Vaculik was not sure about staying in the TOP 6, and therefore, he would be missing the field next season. After winning at the Olympic stadium, he is 11 points behind the 2nd place and is still in the fight for medals.
– This only shows how balanced this season is. There is a thin line of error between winning and losing. Speedway has become very balanced currently, anyone can win, which makes the whole competition even more interesting and exciting for the fans, but more difficult for us competitors (laughs), but it is what it is – you have to do everything the best you can. Once again, I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate Fredrik Lindgren and Robert Lambert – they were very fast that evening, so I am even happier that I managed to beat them – added the EBUT.PL STALI Gorzow rider.
The winner of the 8th round of the 2024 DEWALT FIM SGP of Poland – Wroclaw also mentioned the growing interest in speedway in Slovakia. – I strive to achieve the best possible results and somehow help the development of this discipline in my country. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but I do my best (laughs). Speedway is developing more and more in Slovakia, these are fantastic news, both for me and for this sport. Currently, we have about 8-10 juniors, whereas when I started, or even until recently, there was practically no one. We can help young boys, but also girls – we have one young female rider who is trying her hand. It is one of my goals, when I end my career, I would like to see more and more riders representing Slovakia in speedway, it is my great dream. I will do everything I can to continue promoting this sport – declared the speedway rider.
Vaculik also referred to the fact that the upcoming time will be very busy for riders, as the next SGP round starts this coming weekend – this time in Riga, and the next in Vojens. At the end of September, the final round of this year’s cycle awaits in Torun. – Personally, I like it when the start rhythm is maintained. A round week by week is perfectly fine with me – he concluded.
