The annual fight for the title of Individual Polish Champion in speedway is behind us. After three exciting rounds, held in Łódź, Bydgoszcz, and Lublin, the traveling Jozef Dochy cup ended up in the hands of Maciej Janowski. The vice-champion title was won by Patryk Dudek, and the bronze was taken by Bartosz Zmarzlik.

The captain of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław approached the last tournament of the IMP cycle with a five-point deficit to the then leader of the general classification – Patryk Dudek. The KS APATORA Torun rider finished in medal positions three times in this year’s championships. The situation was somewhat different for Janowski, who in Łódź and Bydgoszcz couldn’t enjoy podium places. In both cases, advancing to the final ended with the rider placing 4th, and he settled in the same place in the general classification. It is worth noting that before the round in Lublin, he was not considered by fans to be the main candidate and favorite to win gold.

I quietly believed somewhere that, with a good alignment of stars, a lot could change – said Maciej Janowski, for whom the oval at Z5 seemed to be prepared perfectly that evening. – From the beginning, my bikes really worked phenomenally and matched better with each race. Super speed. We didn’t have to make a lot of changes because from the start we found good settings on which I could primarily race. I think the fans got a very nice dose of the black sport – a lot of racing, plenty of overtaking, so I think it was a very nice speedway evening – added this year’s Individual Polish Champion.

The gold for the Wrocław rider is his third in his career. Besides this, he also has three silvers and three bronzes. The rider himself emphasized in a conversation with the media that such achievements affect the mood and profile of a rider during the fight for more medals. – This ease rather stemmed from the fact that I had already managed to win the Polish championship in previous years. That first title was very demanding. And now it went nicely. I’m happy because this is somewhere a recognition of the hard work my team and I, faith in many people. The last few weeks weren’t easy, as we were dealing with various problems. The last match with ORLEN OIL MOTOR – something clicked nicely, now the Polish Championship in Lublin.. no, I couldn’t have dreamed it better – concluded the captain of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław.
