Maciej Janowski: We could have won, but my points were missing

6 points and a bonus in five rides – that’s Maciej Janowski’s score in the match against FOGO UNIA Leszno. The captain of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław was very self-critical of his performance and at the same time proud of the team’s effort.

The Wrocław team arrived in Leszno weakened by the absence of Daniel Bewley. The Briton had been badly bruised in the UK and needed to rest from the motorcycle. Without their leader, BETARD SPARTA posed a tough challenge to the hosts, but their fighting spirit was only enough to score 43 points. In the final result, a better contribution from Maciej Janowski was missing.

– It was definitely my points missing to fight for a win in this match. That’s what I’m mainly upset about because I wanted us to win – emphasized Maciej Janowski in a post-match interview. – It’s tough. We stood up to the hosts in Leszno despite being weakened, without Dan Bewley, and we can be proud of that. I’m happy about that. Fantastic match by Jakub and Francis, big applause for them – added the captain of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław.

Janowski started the match very successfully. Together with Francis Gusts the captain of the visitors secured five points at the finish line, increasing their lead in the first series of starts.

– The start was very good. Then the motorcycle started to rev a lot and I couldn’t tame it to slow it down a bit. I don’t know what changed in the second phase of the match that I had such problems. We need to get back to the workshop and look into it – he noted in an interview with ekstraliga.pl.

The day before, the two-time Individual Polish Champion had a very successful performance in the second round of this year’s championship. In Bydgoszcz he came close to the podium and joined the fight for medals.

– In Bydgoszcz it was good from the start. In Leszno we also started well, but then we started losing points that we missed. It’s a great pity because we could have won – summed up Maciej Janowski.

After the match in Leszno, the Wrocław team already shifts their focus to the next tough away match. On August 4th in Gorzów they will face EBUT.PL STAL in a key game for the upper half of the table before the play-off phase.
