Kacper Andrzejewski: It Was a Season That Taught Me a Lot

Kacper Andrzejewski is a graduate of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław who recently became the subject of a transfer to a lower league club – ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz. The junior did not have many opportunities to showcase his skills in the PGE Ekstraliga this season, which, as he admits in our interview, was one of the reasons for leaving his home club.

Andrzejewski debuted in the PGE Ekstraliga back in 2023. This season, however, he could not rely on too many opportunities from coach Dariusz Śledź in the main lineup of BETARD SPARTA Wrocław. – I consider this transfer mostly as a new option or an opportunity for growth. There were many of us in Wrocław, so I decided that with the expiring contract, and since I didn’t have many opportunities to ride here, I’d drop a league lower to get more rides and gain more experience. Maybe there were many youth competitions, but those league ones, which I care about the most, that is riding with better riders, were rather fewer – says the new addition of ABRAMCZYK POLONIA.

Why did he decide on Bydgoszcz? – It seems to me that the offer from ABRAMCZYK POLONIA was swift. The interest was very high and effective. I had talks with other clubs, which lasted longer or shorter, but in Bydgoszcz, there was a phone call, and, frankly, everything was confirmed and arranged within a few days – explains Andrzejewski.

The track on Sportowa Street in Bydgoszcz is widely considered difficult to ride. What does the new junior of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian club think about that? – There were a few opportunities to ride, but I think I need a few more trainings on this track to get to know these paths. I think it’s a place that can teach me a lot because it’s quite a technical and specific track compared to others – claims the 17-year-old.

In the past season, Kacper Andrzejewski consistently participated in the U24 Ekstraliga, which he won together with the Wrocław team, defeating ENEA STAL Gorzów in the final. Nevertheless, not everything went as it should have. – This year, it was hard for me to achieve certain regularity, that is, several matches with a consistent points tally, because it looked varied. There were events where it was very good, and there were also those where it was pretty average and definitely below my expectations. I think it was a season that taught me a lot and showed me what speedway really is, so I regard it positively, although my effectiveness and stability in riding could have been much better – he said.

Was it better than the previous one? – The 2023 season was indeed my first season in this adult speedway category. Last year I also had an injury that disturbed some of my plans, but after it, I came back stronger. This season, however, I had moments when I was lost. In terms of stability, the previous year was better, but in terms of riding – this one.

The rider does not hide that the goals for next year are ambitious, and one of them is promotion with ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz to the PGE Ekstraliga. – As for the team goal, it’s a certainty as both the club and Bydgoszcz fans only talk about one thing, which is promotion to the PGE Ekstraliga, so I will do everything to make it happen. Individually, I want as much riding in the league with better riders and to achieve the mentioned stability. I would also like to show myself well in the Individual and Team Polish Junior Championships – concluded Kacper Andrzejewski.
