Łukasz Rusiecki (ekstraliga.pl): Where are you currently located, and what does your winter preparation for the speedway season look like?
Adam Bednar (STAL Gorzów): Currently, I spend most of my time in Prague, where I am preparing for the new season. The training is similar to last year, in which I believe I was very well prepared. I haven’t changed anything, and I think that’s the right path.
Last season, you managed to debut in the PGE Ekstraliga. How do you assess your start with the elite? Do you know what you need to work on to secure a permanent spot there?
My debut in the PGE Ekstraliga was decent, as I scored 4 or 5 points, so I think it was okay, especially since I gained a lot of experience. I would like to be in the lineup for the 2025 season or be loaned out to another club in the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga or the National Speedway League. I consider the debut quite successful, and I am pleased with it.
Are there any specific aspects of your riding technique that you would like to improve at the moment? What do you find most challenging?
Since I am very young, all aspects of my riding can be improved. It’s hard to say what my weaker side is, because as an inexperienced speedway rider, there’s always something I could do better.
How do you evaluate your performance in the U24 Ekstraliga? An average of 2.151 per race seems like a good sign for the future?
I remember racing in these competitions very well. It was a very good season in the U24 Ekstraliga for me and my team. In several matches, like in Lublin and one game in Gorzów, not everything went as planned, but the last few matches went really well. I rate this season as very good regarding the U24 Ekstraliga.
Was there anything that surprised you about Polish speedway, like track preparation or approach to competitions? Where did you race most comfortably so far?
I prefer the track in Gorzów, which is very technical. I was very surprised by the track preparation, as usually, the tracks are hard, and I don’t like those. I definitely prefer “under the wheel” tracks. It was hard for me to adapt the motorcycles and my style to such surfaces, but I think there’s an improvement in this area.
Who do you consider your speedway idol, whom you have the most respect for?
Such riders are Tai Woffinden and Daniel Bewley. I really like their riding style and character, so if I had to name my idols, it would be them.
What are your main goals for the new season? Are you quietly hoping for a chance in the PGE Ekstraliga, or will you focus on the U24 Ekstraliga, SGP2 or the Czech Extraliga?
I would like to secure a spot in the PGE Ekstraliga or get loaned out to a club from the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga, but also advance to SGP2 and achieve a good result there. The main goal is simply to be a better rider than last year.
Your biggest sports dreams?
The dream would be to secure a permanent spot in the PGE Ekstraliga lineup and race in every match, but the biggest goal is to advance to the Speedway Grand Prix, although I know it’s a very long road, and time will tell when that will happen.
