Incredible emotions in Zielona Góra. NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ wins and advances to the play-offs!

An extremely close match in Zielona Góra at Wrocławska 69 between NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ and KS APATOR Toruń ended in favor of the hosts, who won 46:44. The highest-scoring players of both teams were Piotr Pawlicki (12+1) and Robert Lambert (12). This means that the PGE Ekstraliga newcomer has advanced to the play-off stage.

The Toruń team entered the match weakened by the absence of Emil Sajfutdinow, who remained in a hospital in the British Isles after a fall in that league – he was replaced by Wiktor Lampart, who has recently been in very poor form. The first race was won by Jarosław Hampel, and the hosts won 4:2. In the junior race, we witnessed a major surprise as they came to the finish line in the first two positions. The third race ended in a draw as the leader of KS APATOR ToruńRobert Lambert – won it. At the end of the first series, we had a very serious-looking fall from Paweł Przedpełski. From the race rerun, Oskar Hurysz was excluded. After the first series, the score was 10:14.

The second series of the competition began with a victory of Jan Kvech, but due to the mechanical failure of Przemysław Pawlicki, the hosts were still behind by 4 points. In the 7th race, the pair of Jarosław Hampel and Rasmus Jensen won double, and after the second series of starts, the scoreboard showed a tie of 21:21.

The next series of starts saw 2 more individual victories by KS APATOR Toruń team riders – Paweł Przedpełski and Robert Lambert. In the race concluding the third series, it seemed for a long time that NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ Zielona Góra would recover the losses from race number 8, but on the first corner of the third lap, Jan Kvech encountered a mechanical failure. The hosts were behind by 2 points and were then outside the PGE Ekstraliga quarter-finals.

The fourth series of starts began with a double win by the pair Paweł PrzedpełskiPatryk Dudek, and the guest’s lead was already 6 points. However, the next two races saw victories by the hosts, recovering all the loss, and before the nominated heats, the score was tied at 39:39.

The penultimate race of the day ended in a draw when Patryk Dudek overtook Rasmus Jensen and Przemysław Pawlicki on the distance, while the last race of the meeting was a 4:2 victory for the hosts, with Piotr Pawlicki and Jarosław Hampel becoming the heroes of the local audience.

Thanks to this victory, NOVYHOTEL FALUBAZ Zielona Góra advanced to the play-offs as the first newcomer of the PGE Ekstraliga since 2010 when Unia Tarnów advanced to this stage of the competition.
