Eryk Jóźwiak the new coach of #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ Poznań: Negotiations were quick and decisive
22.10.2024 21:39#ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ after a crazy 2024 season said goodbye to their coach, who for one and a half seasons was Adam Skórnicki. He will be replaced by Eryk Jóźwiak, who comes to Poznań from Gdańsk. Jakub Kozaczyk, the president of #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ, talks about the reasons for such a decision, the youth academy, and the past season.
Eryk Jóźwiak led the team ENERGI WYBRZEŻA for the past few years. However, the year 2024 was not too lucky for the club, as the team from Gdańsk finished last, in eighth place, leading to relegation to the National Speedway League. – Negotiations with Eryk Jóźwiak were quick and decisive. We need a coach for work, not for taking pictures. He is to tidy up the academy and ensure that our youth make progress. – says Jakub Kozaczyk.
Besides coach Jóźwiak, Jacek Kannenberg will continue his work in Poznań. What role does he play in #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ? – Certainly an important one. He brings good atmosphere and primarily calm, allowing players to focus on achieving good results. – explains the president of the club from the capital of Greater Poland.
The 2024 season was certainly exceptional for the Poznań team. Predicted by many to fight for survival, the team unexpectedly joined the race for promotion to the PGE Ekstraliga. #ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ sensationally defeated ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz – the later league finalist – in the quarterfinals. Is there a sense of disappointment despite the good results that they couldn’t go further? – There is no disappointment. We should be happy that we got so far, so there’s nothing to complain about, although we could have gone further. It was destined that way from above and it was meant to be – there is no disappointment. I said from the beginning that we would be in sixth place, and we finished fifth. In the semifinals, we could have even defeated Rybnik, but Ryan Douglas was injured. – he claims.
What goals does the president set for the team for the 2025 season? – For me, the most important thing is the development of the speedway academy and the development of juniors, and the result of the first team is somewhat secondary. I hope we will fight in the upper tier and it should end between fourth and sixth place. – says Jakub Kozaczyk.
#ORZECHOWAOSADA PSŻ is a dynamically developing club. Is the Poznań team capable of advancing to the PGE Ekstraliga in the perspective of a few years? – When it comes to organizational and financial matters, it is capable. The biggest problem is the home venue infrastructure, but that does not depend on us, but rather on the city. – he concluded.
