Continuation of the fight for the European Championship. Max Fricke with a historic performance (preview of the 2nd SEC final)
20.07.2024 15:22This Saturday, speedway emotions will accompany fans during the 2nd final round of the TAURON SEC cycle in Grudziądz. Sixteen well-known riders will compete in the event. The start of the competition is scheduled for 20:00. Broadcast on TVP Sport and on the website sport.tvp.pl.
The first round of the TAURON SEC in the current 2024 season took place in Debrecen. Andzejs Lebedevs crowned his success there, repeating his triumph from seven years ago. He is the leader of the interim SEC standings, as he lost only one point in Hungary. Now, he returns to the track after recovering from an injury. Maciej Janowski follows the Latvian, while third place belongs to Jacob Thorsell. Our other compatriots occupy the 4th, 7th, and 8th places, which belong to: Patryk Dudek, Piotr Pawlicki, and Kacper Woryna. Bartłomiej Kowalski is in 14th position, but he was only substituting the injured Janusz Kołodziej in Debrecen.
For the first time in the history of the Speedway European Championship, a rider from a continent other than Europe will compete in Grudziądz, and this will be the Australian Max Fricke, representing the local team ZOOLESZCZ GKM Grudziądz. He will be one of the main favorites for the competition in Grudziądz. Meanwhile, after a long injury, the Frenchman Dimitri Berge is set to return to the track.
It is worth noting that for the past four years, winning the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship cycle has meant promotion to the FIM Speedway Grand Prix cycle in the following season.
