Benjamin Cook ended the PGE Ekstraliga season with his best performance of his career. With 13 points and a bonus in five starts, the Australian was the leader of the Leszno team and led FOGO UNIA to a 53:37 victory.

Cook made his debut in the world’s best speedway league in early June with an away performance in Częstochowa. In his first appearance, he was the leader of the white and blue team in the absence of Janusz Kołodziej. Overall, the Australian competed in eight matches and achieved an average race score of nearly 2 points.

– I’m still waiting to see what happens, but I definitely would like to stay in Leszno. We will now talk with the president and see where it leads us – he admitted after the last match of the season in an interview with journalists at the Ekstraliga Media Center. – I enjoy being here and appreciate the fans. It’s good that we finished the season with a win for them – added Benjamin Cook.

The atmosphere in the parking lot was quite subdued, as after the outcome of the match in Zielona Góra, FOGO UNIA was already certain of relegation. This did not, however, affect the attitude of the riders. – This match was like any other for us. Sometimes you have better, sometimes worse matches, and this one was very good for me. Everyone performed well and the match was won. It’s nice to end this way – said Cook.

The Australian is a strong candidate for the surprise of the season. How does he assess his first months in the PGE Ekstraliga? – Even the best always see room for improvement, and of course that’s the case for me too. I still need to race a bit more, but in this match, the motorcycle was really fast and I could chase – he noted.
