A point with a bonus is Antoni Mencel’s tally in the match against BETARD SPARTA Wrocław. The FOGO UNIA Leszno youth player expected a better performance in such an important clash, but his ‘eye’ also had an impact on the final result.

Mencel performed excellently a week earlier when the Leszno team hosted ZOOLESZCZ GKM Grudziądz. The team’s youth player couldn’t repeat such a good performance – he only scored in his last race.

– I was hoping for a better point haul, but it just didn’t go my way. It wasn’t my day. I apologize to everyone for my performance and will do everything to ensure much better results in the next matches – said Antoni Mencel after the match in the Ekstraliga Media Center.

The Leszno team won 47:43 and remain in the fight to stay in the PGE Ekstraliga. However, the duel with BETARD SPARTA Wrocław kept everyone on edge until the last moments, with the home team trailing for most of the match and only taking the lead after the 14th race.

– It was a very tough match. At the beginning, we were trailing by a few points, but fortunately, my teammates performed medal-worthy. As a team, we showed that we can win in difficult moments – emphasized Antoni Mencel.

Ultimately, the point scored by the junior was one of the key factors in the fight for the match victory. In the 12th race, the 18-year-old defeated Marcel Kowolik, thus saving a race draw. It was the beginning of a nervous end to the match.

– There was great calm. In such moments, you cannot allow a nervous atmosphere. We kept our composure, and that led us to victory. After the 14th race, we felt relieved, but we remained focused until the end – concluded the junior.
