A Bittersweet Day for FOGO UNIA Leszno. EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów Third After Regular Season

A very interesting meeting in Leszno at the Alfred Smoczyk stadium between FOGO UNIA and EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów was resolved in favor of the hosts, who won 53:37. The top scorers for both teams were Benjamin Cook (13+1) and Andres Thomsen (9).

The Leszno team tried to cause trouble for the favored Gorzów team from the beginning of the match. In the first race of the evening, Nazar Partnitsky led for almost 3 laps, but after an attack first by Martin Vaculik and later by Oskar Fajfer, he fell to the last position, and EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów won 4:2. In the junior race, a great move was made by Antoni Mencel, who boldly overtook Oskar Paluch on the exit of the second turn. In the following heats, despite overtakes by Benjamin Cook and Janusz Kołodziej, EBUT.PL Stal Gorzów extended their lead to 6 points.

The second series of events began with a double win by the hosts. Once again, Benjamin Cook impressed on the track, overtaking Szymon Woźniak and Oskar Fajfer. After the break, in the 7th race, Anders Thomsen overtook Nazar Partnitsky‘ego on the last lap. After two series of starts in the competition, it was a tie at 21:21.

The next round brought another 3 victories for FOGO UNIA Leszno. Notably, Janusz Kołodziej made a great move in race no. 9, overtaking Martin Vaculik. In race no. 10, FOGO UNIA Leszno managed to win a 5:1 race for the second time during this event, and this time the pair Andzejs Lebedevs and Benjamin Cook achieved it.

The fourth series brought a resolution to the entire event. Only in race no. 12 did Jakub Miśkowiak win, marking the first individual victory for a EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów rider since race no. 4. However, after a double victory by Janusz Kołodziej and Grzegorz Zengota in the next race, it was certain that the Leszno team would win their last event in the PGE Ekstraliga before at least a one-year break.

In the nominated races, the hosts increased their lead to 16 points. Thus, neither team gained a bonus point.

EBUT.PL STAL Gorzów finishes the regular season in the PGE Ekstraliga in 3rd place. FOGO Unia Leszno will start the next season in the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga. This will happen for the first time since 1996.
