U24 BECKHOFF SPARTA Wrocław wins U24 Ekstraliga 2024

ENEA STAL Gorzów did not defend their two-point lead at the Olympic Stadium, where they lost to U24 BECKHOFF SPARTA Wrocław in the second final match of the U24 Ekstraliga. The most effective in both teams: Francis Gusts 14+1 – Adam Bednar 14+1 (6).

Initially, it seemed that on Tuesday evening, the spectators at the Olympic Stadium would see an extremely fierce encounter. This was indicated at least by the initial phase of the battle. Already after two races, it was a draw (6:6), and in the 3rd race, the hosts – thanks to the duo of Wiliam Drejer – Kacper Andrzejewski – won 5:1 over Oskar Paluch and Michael West. Thus, the Wrocław team took the lead (11:7). By the end of the first series of starts, however, the Gorzów pair (Adam Bednar – Mathias Pollestad) won 5:1, which brought the visitors to another tie (12:12).

The 5th race ended with a triumph for Adam Bednar and Rasmus Karlsson 4:2. The next two sprint battles, in turn, went to U24 BECKHOFF SPARTA (twice 4:2). As a result, the hosts took the lead again (22:20).

The protégés of Dariusz Śledź increased their advantage in the 8th race, winning it 5:1. After the start, Wiliam Drejer broke to the front of the pack. The Dane was constantly chased by Bednar. Just before the finish, Drejer was struck by bad luck in the form of a motorcycle defect. Despite this, the rider managed to maintain his position in front of the Czech. The first to cross the line, meanwhile, was Marcel Kowolik, with bold riding on the outside on the final straight. U24 BECKHOFF SPARTA kept pressing their advantage. Their victories in the 9th race (5:1) and the 10th race (4:2) meant that after three series, the scoreboard showed 36:24 in favor of the Lower Silesia capital team.

The closer it got to the end of the match, the more certain it became that the U24 Ekstraliga gold medals would hang around the necks of the Wrocław team’s riders. The team from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship practically secured the first place at the end of the competition after the 12th race when the score was 44:28 in favor of U24 BECKHOFF SPARTA. Moreover, in the 13th race, the Wrocław team deprived the Gorzów team of any chance of victory – even mathematical ones – with a score of 3:3. The overall match stood at 47:31 for the hosts (in the two-legged tie – 91:77).

The nominated races ended more favorably for ENEA STAL Gorzów. They won the 14th race 4:2, and the 15th race – 5:1.
