During a recent team presentation, AUTONA UNIA introduced the new team captain for the 2025 season, which is Mateusz Szczepaniak. In a short interview for ekstraliga.pl, he talked about his plans and the next stages of preparation for the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga. The player also addressed the fans from Tarnów directly.

The upcoming season in the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga promises to be very balanced, and therefore the challenge for the league’s newcomer is even greater. Mateusz Szczepaniak, however, reassures those interested that they will not give up easily. – I think we have an ambitious team of players who need to prove that they can race at a good level and are motivated, so I think it will be good. Although this league is always balanced, every year you can see that there are unpredictable results, so I don’t want to assume anything before the season, I want to do my job, I do not speculate about results before the season because life always verifies this – he emphasized in the conversation for ekstraliga.pl.

Szczepaniak also talked about his training, and some of them can be seen on his social media profiles. – These are general development exercises. In speedway, you need to be flexible and have a lot of strength, but the weight can’t be too much. You need to be fit and flexible, so there are many different exercises. I know what I expect from myself to feel good on the motorcycle. Besides, I also like to play football, so during the winter break, I combine it with indoor training – explained the new captain of AUTONA UNII Tarnów.

In the conversation with ekstraliga.pl, the topic of club plans for the next stages of preparation for the season also came up. – In February, a training camp is planned, so we will be able to work and train together there. Later, if the weather permits, we will train on the track. There are also plans to organize trips to tracks that will be ready to ride in March – said the speedway rider.

Mateusz Szczepaniak was also asked about his goals for the 2025 season. The graduate of the Piła club does not have a defined goal, but he cannot be denied ambition. – I approach it as if I am an athlete, I’m a speedway rider, and I line up at the gate to win the race, I always have a great desire to win because that is the goal of every athlete. And after the season, I will be able to say whether I am satisfied with the result or not – he explained.

During the conversation, the topic of the Tarnów track came up. Although the newcomer to the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga did not previously represent the club’s colors, he has good memories of it, but he needs to get to know it better. – In recent years, there have been some competitions or training sessions in Tarnów. I certainly have positive memories from the last few years, so before the season, I think we need to work on it. Get into this track, fit in and be ready one hundred percent for the first match – he stated.

Mateusz Szczepaniak also addressed the fans directly, who came in large numbers to the team presentation. – We need to meet and get to know each other in training and the first matches to establish contact, and I can’t wait for that. Of course, I want to convey that as a team we are motivated and dedicated to having the best season for the club from Tarnów. I would also like them to support us and be with us this season – concluded the new captain of AUTONA UNII Tarnów.
