Stadium Renovation and Training Camp. ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz’s Plans for the Coming Months
19.11.2024 20:11The 2024 speedway season is now history. For ABRAMCZYK POLONIA Bydgoszcz, it was supposed to be the year they return to the PGE Ekstraliga after many years, but this goal was not achieved. Now, the club is working intensively to try once again to advance to the elite.
One of the elements that almost everyone at the club is waiting for is the new stadium. However, this investment will start a bit later. The current priority is the construction of lighting and linear drainage. Over 10 million PLN has been allocated for this in the city’s budget. – By the start of the next season, we want to modernize the lighting and drainage. – said Bydgoszcz’s mayor Rafał Burski to Express Bydgoski. – The requirements are such that we need a six-percent slope on the curves and three-percent on the straights. We are short by a few centimeters. So, 320 tons of crushed granite and 60 tons of clay have been delivered. This needs to be mixed, then laid out and compacted before starting the drainage works. We hope that by the end of the year, all related works will be completed, so the track will be ready for winter – echoes ABRAMCZYK POLONIA’s president Jerzy Kanclerz.
So when will a new stand be built in Bydgoszcz? – By spring 2025, we want to have updated permission to build the stand on the first bend. The timing of the implementation will be decided by financial matters – further explains Burski. This statement most likely means that work on building the stand, similar to the one by the pit area, will start in just over a year.
The preparation period has already begun for some speedway riders. ABRAMCZYK POLONIA, however, will start its preparations next year in Żnin, the same place as before the past season. – We will go to Żnin again, but this time a bit earlier, at the turn of January and February – announces Kanclerz. – Last time we were there a bit later and combined it with traveling for track training. Now the riders prefer to go to the camp in winter, and when the conditions are suitable for track outings, they want to stay on site to maximize the use – said the club president to Express Bydgoski.
Before each season, many teams opt for friendly, scored competition. As Jerzy Kanclerz says, Bydgoszcz won’t miss out on this either. Who will be ABRAMCZYK POLONIA’s opponent? – We would like to compete with Ekstraliga teams, but it’s too early for details – he concluded.
