Phenomenal finish by Madsen. Two Poles on the podium in Grudziądz
20.07.2024 22:43The second round of TAURON SEC in Grudziądz ended with Leon Madsen’s victory. The podium was completed by Poles. Kacper Woryna finished in second place, and Piotr Pawlicki in third.
The beginning of the competition could be considered successful by the riders who started from the outside lane. Timo Lahti, Piotr Pawlicki, Mikkel Michelsen, and Andzejs Lebedevs won their first races. All of them wore yellow helmets at the start of the competition.
After the break, Max Fricke broke the curse of the Grudziądz oval. The Australian brought three points to the finish from the third starting lane. Moreover, it was the first historical victory for a rider of this nationality in the SEC series.
The track opened up in the later stages of the competition. In the main phase, Poles Piotr Pawlicki and Kacper Woryna performed the best. The Danes Mikkel Michelsen and Leon Madsen also joined the fight for the final. Returning after an injury, Janusz Kołodziej found his form midway through the competition. The trio met in the run-off race. The race lineup was completed by Max Fricke, who started with a “wild card”.
The final phase of the competition belonged to Leon Madsen. The leader of KRONO-PLAST WŁÓKNIARZ Częstochowa started well and managed to take the lead at the curb, which he maintained till the end. To the delight of the local audience, Fricke finished second. In the decisive race, the Dane was the fastest off the start, and the white-reds chased after him, but they were not quick enough to overtake the leader.
