How is the schedule created and why is it not drawn?

Eight teams and numerous dependencies and connections with international events. How is the league schedule created and why can’t it be drawn?

Schedules for the PGE Ekstraliga and METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga are not drawn in the Speedway Ekstraliga because there are obstacles such as venue availability, international events in Polish and foreign locations, and conditions related to the number of matches played ‘at home’ and ‘away’ by individual teams.

In 2025, both schedules are so-called mirror images, which means that in the return round, matches will take place with reversed pairs compared to the first part of the regular season.

The rule that a newcomer starts the competition on their home track cannot always be applied due to deviations concerning, for example, track renovations (linear drainage) and stadiums (including machine parks or stands).

It was not applied recently in the case of the newcomer to the PGE Ekstraliga from Zielona Góra (first match of the 2024 season in Wrocław), and what about Rybnik? The answer to this question will be known on December 17 after 8:00 PM.

CONFIRMED. Work related to linear drainage and significant stadium changes in the case of the newcomer in METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga (AUTONA UNIA Tarnów) means that this team will play the first match away.

For the entire schedule structure, crucial significance is given to the occupations of international events in distant locations. 

• SGP in Manchester (June 14, Saturday) results in no PGE Ekstraliga on Friday and Sunday – but there will be Sunday matches in METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga
• SGP and SGP 2 in Malilla (July 4 – 5, Friday and Saturday) cause a full weekend block in the PGE Ekstraliga
• SGP in Cardiff (August 16, Saturday) results in no PGE Ekstraliga – but there will be METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga and additionally, it is a break weekend in the PGE Ekstraliga before the final round

It is also necessary to consider the occupancy of speedway venues for other organizers in cities where clubs play their matches. For the 2025 season, such reservations apply to: Wrocław, Gorzów, Rybnik, Poznań and Rzeszów.
