End of an Era for Speedway Legends. Adrian Miedziński and Krzysztof Kasprzak End Their Careers
22.11.2024 11:22Thursday evening brought two announcements about the retirement of top PGE Ekstraliga riders from previous years. Adrian Miedziński and Krzysztof Kasprzak have closed their chapters in speedway sports.
Adrian Miedziński shared his decision through his Facebook profile. – We meet because I want to say something. I made a decision that battles in my mind and is not easy. Namely, it’s about ending my speedway career – the now former rider announced.
The Torun club’s trainee debuted in the league in the 2002 season and continuously represented the team until 2017 (and again in 2020-2021). During this time, he won 9 Polish Team Championships medals (1 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze). Throughout his career, he also competed with teams from Częstochowa (2018-2019) and Bydgoszcz (2022-2024). In the 2023 PGE Ekstraliga season, he was also loaned to FOGO UNIA Leszno.
In team struggles, he also has 2 World Team Cup golds (2009 and 2010), while individually, he won one SGP tournament (the 2013 Torun tournament).
– One day I asked my mother what she would like for her sixtieth birthday. She replied: son, finally peace and stress-free weekends, mainly Sundays. After 41 years. First, my dad, a Polish champion, rode, and then I rode with my brother Robert. I replied: mom, done. That’s how my wonderful adventure and career ended – said Krzysztof Kasprzak in an interview for Interia.pl HERE.
The older of the Kasprzak brothers was a product of UNIA Leszno. He appeared for the club from 2000 to 2009 (during which he won a gold and 2 silver DMP medals). Then he rode for the second UNIA – from Tarnów for two seasons. Next came the best years of Krzysztof Kasprzak‘s career at STAL Gorzów (2012-2020). With the team, he won 2 gold, 3 silver, and a bronze PGE Ekstraliga medal, and in 2014, he claimed the World Champion runner-up title in the FIM SGP series. His next career stages were with teams from Grudziądz (2021-2022), Krosno (2023), and recently from Gdańsk in the METALKAS 2. Ekstraliga (2024).
Kasprzak also won World Team Cup titles, which was in the 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2016 seasons. In 2014, he secured a silver medal with the Polish national team.
